Look For The Good
Do you want to build a better relationship with someone?
How do you ask?
Well, let me let you in on a little secret.
It's really quite simple.
Look for the good.
Huh?
Yep, look for the good.
What the hell does that mean?
Every single person you encounter has at least one undeniable good thing about them.
What?
Yep. Every person has something that makes them them. That one unique thing that sets them apart from the rest of the herd; at least in your mind. The trick is you have to be willing to roll up the sleeves a bit to dig for it. To truly discover what that one good thing is about them.
Maybe they are super passionate about dogs (Bob). Maybe they love art (Maria). Perhaps they are passionate about a certain non-profit (Maura). Maybe they just love the Dallas Cowboys (Greg).
Whatever it is...find it! These little ditties you discover about people are what help you connect in fun and unique ways.
My love of Bruce Springsteen has allowed me to connect with so many business people I would have otherwise assumed we had nothing in common. Our common love of "The Boss" music has elevated our relationships well beyond the mundane and usual. All because I found something good in them that I identified with, expanded upon and viola, the relationship took on a totally different meaning.
Try it. Look for the good in someone you want to build a better relationship with. Ask about it! Rinse and repeat...often.
That good thing just may spark a promising and rewarding relationship.
Ripple On!!!
